Entrepreneurship Month Kicks off with Power Forward Series

November is Entrepreneurship Month and the FSU College of Business and First Commerce Credit Union are kicking off the month with the third annual Power Forward Speaker Series event. This year’s speaker will be Randi Zuckerberg of the Facebook start-up team.

Zuckerberg follows Barbara Corcoran of ABC’s “Shark Tank” and Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple Inc., as the third Power Forward speaker. She was revealed as this year’s speaker during the opening general session of the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Community Conference in Sandestin.

First Commerce Credit Union is working closely with the FSU College of Business to promote entrepreneurship, especially in Tallahassee. “Florida State University has a new culture of embracing entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation across all disciplines and the College of Business is proud to be a leader in this effort,” said Michael D. Hartline, interim dean of the college.

When most hear the name “Zuckerberg,” they think of Randi’s brother, Mark, the founder of the social media giant, Facebook. Randi was part of the Facebook start-up team and continues to work with up-and-coming businesses and innovators. Randi was named a Top 50 Digital Player by the Hollywood Reporter and created and ran the pioneering Facebook’s marketing programs from 2005 to 2011.

Today, Zuckerberg is the founder and CEO of Zuckerberg Media, a boutique-marketing firm and production company working with high-profile clients including Cirque du Soleil, Conde Nast and PayPal. She is also the author of “Dot Complicated,” a New York Times bestseller, which discusses Randi’s personal journey on the front lines of Facebook and her thoughts on how technology has completely changed our lives.

Randi also hosts a radio show on Sirius XM called, “Dot Complicated,” which offers advice to businesses on how to adopt the latest trends. “It’s about graduating from Social Media 101 to the next level where you are engaging more customers and bringing in substantial new business,” said Zuckerberg in 850 Magazine’s interview with her.

Check out more of what Zuckerberg has to say by reading the interview in the October/November issue of 850: The Business Magazine of Northwest Florida. Better yet, hear her speak at the Power Forward Speaker Series on Nov. 4 at the Ruby Diamond Auditorium on Florida State University’s campus.
